The national enrolment system your decision comes from
Slovenian bachelor and integrated-master admission runs through a national system worth understanding, because it explains the timing and the decision you receive. The ministry publishes the call for enrolment (Razpis za vpis) in late January or early February, listing every programme and the number of full-time (redni) and part-time (izredni) places. There are then three application rounds:
- Round 1: you submit one application listing up to three programmes in priority order at any Slovenian faculty, and you are placed in the first one whose conditions you meet.
- Round 2: for those not admitted in round 1, who did not apply, or who have a valid reason to reapply, onto the places that remain.
- Round 3: a written request sent directly to an institution that still has places after round 2, naming one programme you qualify for.
At the end of April, after all applications are in, each university decides whether a programme has an enrolment limit (omejitev vpisa). If there is no limit, everyone meeting the basic criteria is admitted. If there is a limit, candidates are ranked by points from the additional criteria published in the call, such as the result of the recognised secondary qualification, third and fourth-year grades, specific-subject results, and any aptitude-test score. Enrolment of admitted students then happens in late July to early August for round 1, late September for round 2, and early October for round 3. As a Macedonian applicant you plug into this system through recognition of your prior education and the eVS application, and you may have separate non-EU or Western Balkan places.
Read the decision completely
Check the programme, study form, year of entry, conditions, appeal deadline, enrolment deadline, required next action, and delivery method.
Acceptance is not always enrolment
A positive selection or admission decision may still require a separate faculty enrolment process. The faculty may ask you to enter its student portal, confirm personal information, upload a photograph, choose electives, accept regulations, pay an enrolment contribution, submit final original evidence, and complete enrolment electronically or in person.
Certificate of enrolment
After enrolment, obtain the certificate of enrolment (potrdilo o vpisu), student number, official university email, portal access, timetable information, and student-office contact. Request multiple electronic copies if possible; you may need it for residence, health procedures, a bank, student meals, transport, student work, scholarships, and accommodation.
Charges
A tuition exemption does not mean that every cost is zero. Institutions may charge permitted enrolment, material, fieldwork, laboratory, card, or other programme-related contributions. Ask for the legal basis, the price list, the payment deadline, the refund rule, and whether payment is required before enrolment is final.
Appeal
An appeal is a formal process with a fixed deadline. Contact the institution immediately if the wrong applicant category was used, a document was overlooked, a grade was entered incorrectly, the recognition decision contains an error, or you believe selection criteria were applied incorrectly.
Prepare for the first academic decisions
Soon after enrolment, check orientation or freshers’ week, course and elective selection, the deadline for changing an elective, application for special-needs or special status, tutor contact, the student council and faculty societies, university email and portal, library registration, and language support. Some faculties permit elective changes only near the beginning of the year; the exact deadline belongs to the faculty.
